Fermotein Does Not Exert Genotoxic Effects in Bacterial Reverse Mutation and in Vitro Mammalian Cell Micronucleus Tests

نویسندگان

چکیده

Aim: Fermotein is an innovative single-cell protein obtained from fermentation of the filamentous fungus Rhizomucor pusillus. Like other fungi, a lack information on this species exists to assess its safety for human consumption. The capability induce gene mutations or structural and numerical chromosomal aberrations derived products has never been studied before. objective current study was investigate genotoxic effects using bacterial reverse mutation test in vitro mammalian cell micronucleus test.
Methodology: were performed accordance with GLP concurrent OECD guidelines. Dose-range finding tests used select appropriate doses Dry. highest genotoxicity experiments determined by solubility mycoprotein.
Results: Conclusion: No concerns regarding identified no further vivo testing required. Information contributes body evidence novel food authorisation EU GRAS notification US.

Genotoxicity Assessment of Multispecies Probiotics Using Reverse Mutation, Mammalian Chromosomal Aberration, and Rodent Micronucleus Tests

Genotoxicity assessment is carried out on freeze dried powder of cultured probiotics containing Lactobacillus rhamnosus LCR177, Bifidobacterium adolescentis BA286, and Pediococcus acidilactici PA318. Ames tests, in vitro mammalian chromosome aberration assay, and micronucleus tests in mouse peripheral blood are performed. For 5 strains of Salmonella Typhimurium, the Ames tests show no increased...

The Mutagenic and Antimutagenic Activity of Lavandula angustifolia and Elettaria cardamomum Essential Oils in the Bacterial Reverse Mutation Assay

Background: Essential oils from Elettaria cordamomum (cardamom oil) and Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender oil) are used a lot in food and Drug Industry. Cardamom oil traditionally used as spice in food now is increasingly used as diuretic, sedative and for gastrointestinal disease. Lavender oil, traditionally used as an antiseptic agent, is now widely used as a relaxant, carminative, and sedativ...

The Genotoxic and Cytotoxic Effects of Bisphenol-A (BPA) in MCF-7 Cell Line and Amniocytes

Bisphenol-A (BPA) is an industrial xenoestrogen used widely in our living environment. Recently, several studies suggested that BPA has destructive effects on DNA and chromosomes in normal body cells via estrogen receptors (ER). Therefore, BPA could be considered as an important mediator in many diseases such as cancer. However, there are still many controversial issues which need clarification...

Genotoxicity evaluation of Guibi-Tang extract using an in vitro bacterial reverse mutation assay, chromosome aberration assay, and in vivo micronucleus test

BACKGROUND Guibi-Tang is a traditional herbal prescription made from 12 different herbs that is used in the treatment of amnesia and poor memory. METHODS In the present study, we evaluated the acute oral toxicity and genotoxic potential of Guibi-Tang water extract (GBT) at doses up to 2000 μg/plate an using a bacterial reverse mutation test (Ames test) with Salmonella typhimurium strains TA10...

Potential thresholds for genotoxic effects by micronucleus scoring.

The concept of thresholds in genotoxicity has been open for debate in the last decades. The micronucleus (MN) test contributed to a large extent in understanding the dose-response relationship for aneugens and clastogens. The threshold concept for aneuploidy is well accepted by the scientific community based on the data and for mechanistic reasons. The concept of threshold for clastogens is sti...
